New headquarters: Day One, formerly known as the Sexual Assault and Trauma Resource Center, has moved its headquarters to 100 Medway St. on the East Side. Office improvements include handicapped
accessibility, fire code upgrades and areas that are child-friendly, victim-centered and welcoming to all communities.
Day One's Children's Advocacy Center was recently accredited by the National Children's Alliance. Day One is trying to raise $3 million. Donations large and small are welcomed.
Day One's mission is to reduce the prevalence of sexual abuse and violence, and to support and advocate for those affected by it. It was established in 1973 as the Rhode Island Rape Crisis Center. For information,

Alliance adds Day One: National Children's Alliance, a nationwide not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote and support communities in providing a coordinated investigation and comprehensive
response to victims of severe child abuse, has accepted Day One as an accredited member. Day One, through its Rhode Island Children's Advocacy Center program, provides services to children and
their non-offending family members who have experienced sexual assault. The multidisciplinary team approach of using a trained forensic interviewer in a child-friendly setting yields a more comprehensive,
improved interview with children that increases the probability of the case being referred for prosecution and is less traumatic for children.
