Become a Helpline Advocate or volunteer at events! We are always looking to grow our volunteer base. Based on your ability and schedule, there are many opportunities to support our programs, staff, and clients.

We are always looking for more people to join our Helpline team! Volunteer advocates provide support, information, and referrals to survivors at hospitals and police stations throughout Rhode Island. Our 26+ hour training program will provide the skills, knowledge, and confidence to work with victims of all ages.

Helpline volunteers must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and a car, pass a criminal background check, and complete all 26 hours of the training.

  • Saturday May 31, 2025 – 8AM-3:30PM
  • Sunday June 1, 2025 – 8AM-3:30PM
  • Saturday June 7, 2025 – 8AM-3:30PM
  • Sunday June 8, 2025 – 8AM-3:30PM

Community Education & More

Host an information table at a community event, offer resources at a conference, support outreach efforts and days of action, or help out with a project in the office. Day One conducts outreach to educate and involve the public through many awareness and prevention efforts. We participate in local and national initiatives, and through professional and community events around Rhode Island. Help us educate the public about our agency and services.

Become a Helpline Advocate

Volunteer to meet and support survivors at hospitals and police departments. Day One provides a comprehensive 15+ hour training to prepare volunteers to provide advocacy to survivors in their time of need. Volunteer advocates provide support, information, referrals, and safety planning to survivors. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, have a driver’s license and a car, pass a criminal background check, and complete ALL training sessions. Advocates are eligible for certification upon successful completion of the training.
