Become a Helpline Advocate, or volunteer at events.

We are always looking to grow our volunteer base. Based on your ability and schedule, there are many opportunities to support our programs, staff, and clients.

A few ideas:

  • support with clothing drives
  • help distribute Day One materials in the community
  • assist with organization and clerical support for special projects

The Helpline

We are always looking for more people to join our Helpline team! Volunteer advocates provide support, information, and referrals to survivors at hospitals and police stations throughout Rhode Island. Our 15+ hour training program will provide the skills, knowledge, and confidence to work with victims of all ages.

  • Helpline volunteers must be 18 years old with a valid driver's license and a car, pass a criminal background check, and complete all 20 hours of the training.

Next Training Dates: Summer 2024, dates TBD, please reach out to Olivia Ferreira, Advocacy Helpline Coordinator, for more information.

Community Education & More

Host an information table at a community event, offer resources at a conference, support outreach efforts and days of action, or help out with a project in the office. Day One conducts outreach to educate and involve the public through many awareness and prevention efforts. We participate in local and national initiatives, and through professional and community events around Rhode Island. Help us educate the public about our agency and services.
