General Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Children’s Clinical Services, this Day One Clinician provides office-based, outpatient, trauma-informed clinical services to children, youth and families.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides trauma-focused assessments, therapy and crisis intervention services for children, youth, and their caregivers. Therapy services are to be delivered primarily in person (with virtual as an option as it suits agency and client needs).
- The clinician maintains a minimum caseload of ten clients and maximum of nineteen clients.
- Demonstrates a deep commitment to, humility around, and proficiency in areas of social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and anti-oppression.
- Maintains current knowledge and practice of appropriate and effective therapeutic interventions for child abuse victims and their and their identified treatment supportive adults.
- Maintains documentation and completes data entry for all assigned cases (intake form, assessments, treatment plan, progress notes, reports to DCYF, and court reports when necessary).
- Review case formulation, treatment goals, and documentation on a weekly basis with Clinical Supervisor to ensure appropriateness of care.
- Participate in training opportunities as indicated by role and available, to support the continued development of the Day One Clinical program.
- Complete all data entry in TheraNest (EMR) and the Client Tracking Database.
- Engage in collaborative collateral work with the Attorney General’s Office, DCYF, police, courts, hospitals, mental health, schools, and social service agencies as needed and clinically appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with the Day One staff to ensure the continued successful operation of all Day One programs.
- Adherence to the highest ethical standards regarding client-therapist relationships and confidentiality.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- An understanding of issues related to trauma in the areas of sexual assault, child sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, neglect, sex trafficking, domestic violence, and community violence. Holds an understanding on the impact of such trauma on the mind, body, and spirit.
- Both written and oral fluency in Spanish and English. Additional languages are a plus.
- The ability to effectively navigate crises both independently and as a member of a team.
- A high level clinical and interpersonal skill and experience in providing assistance to community members impacted by violence and abuse.
- Proficiency in best practice current assessment tools and research in the mental health field.
- Proficiency in EMR record keeping, program data collection, storage, and analyzing of same for program effectiveness.
- Group facilitation experience and skill.
- Licensing in Social Work or related degree required, as well as maintenance of Professional Licensure Credentials
- Demonstrated capacity to work with humility, curiosity, and from a non-oppressive framework with wide range of individuals and communities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, multi-tasking and analytical skills.
- Clearance through BCI and DCYF CANTS check required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works in a typical professional office environment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Master Level clinical/mental health degree. Licensed in mental health related field of study.
- Experience working with children, youth, adults, and families who have experienced trauma related to sexual abuse, family violence, emotional abuse/neglect, domestic violence, human trafficking and community violence.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
